DENNIS DE SMET EXAMINES INDETERMINATE LOCATIONS, OFTEN INDEFINABLE SPACES THAT NEXT TO STRANGENESS HAVE A CERTAIN THEATRICALITY. THESE SPACES ARE DISCONNECTED FROM AN OBVIOUS AND READABLE FUNCTIONALITY, WHEREBY THE IMAGES ACQUIRE AN AUTONOMOUS STATUS AND THE VIEWER IS CHALLENGED TO ASSIGN A MEANING. THE IMAGES HAVE AN ARCHITECTURAL LAYERING AND EMOTIONAL TENSION AVERSE TO A COMPELLING ANECDOTALISM. SPECIAL THANKS TO FILIP DUJARDIN (MENTOR) AND MARC VAN ROY (TITULAR). EXHIBITION PHOTOGRAPHY ACADEMY GHENT 2014. ARCHIVAL PRINT ON MATTE PAPER GLASS FRAME 150 X 120CM.
